Odisha Olympic Association (OOA), the apex governing body in the field of sports in the state, passed the annual budgets for the year 2016-17 and 2017-18, featuring around Rs 2.5 crore each in its Annual General Meeting held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today.

According to a press release from OOA, the state body registered a profit of Rs 2, 08,660 for the year 2016-17, which involved an income of Rs 2, 43, 99,660 and an expenditure of Rs 2, 41, 91,000. But OOA expects to make a profit of Rs 58,49,660 for the year 2017-18 as the budget for the year involves an income of Rs 2,52,10,660 and an expenditure of Rs 1,93,61,000.

Results of the election of office-bearers of OOA for the term 2016-2020 were formally announced by election officer Dr Sourjya Ranjan Parija. It may be noted that, all 22 office-bearers of the association were elected uncontested earlier on Sept 27, thus making the voting process redundant.

While M A Alam became the new general secretary, Samir Dey retained his post as president. Asirbad Behera, who had been occupying the post of the general secretary for the past 28 years, did not contest for any post this time as he was directed by the Supreme Court to stay away from the affairs of OOA due to his involvement in land grabbing case.

In the AGM today, president Samir Dey, general secretary in-charge Rabindra Kumar Parida, vice-presidents Kamalakanta Panedy, Prasant Kumar Acharya, Jagmohan Pattnaik, Pratap Satpathy, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty; joint-secretaries Manoranjan Mohanty, Avijit Paul, treasurer Adhip Das and State Sports & Youth Services Director Anant Kishore Jena were present.
