  CS titles for Abhishek, Aryan and Ameek

Odisha youngsters achieved notable success in tennis with two boys and one girl of Bhubaneswar-based Farhan Ali Tennis Academy winning one singles and two doubles titles in AITA U-14 Championship Series Tennis Tournament at different places today.

Among the trio, Abhishek Mohapatra bagged a double by winning both the singles and doubles titles in boys under-14 category at DKS Club in Kolkata. In the singles final, he defeated top seed Amaan Wasim of West Bengal 6-1, 6-2. Earlier, Abhishek overcame his state mate and second seed Pratyush Mohanty 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the quaterfinals and Kanav Goel (WB) 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals.

In the doubles final, Abhishek and his statemate D Aryan Swamy outclashed West Bengal pair of Arnab Majumdar and Wyatt Obrien 6-1, 6-2. Student of Sai International School, Abhishek has collected a total of eight AITA titles so far. The eight titles include six in doubles and two in singles. For Aryan, this was the second AITA title and both belong to doubles events.

 

Meanwhile, Odisha girl Ameek Kiran Batth won the doubles title in girls under-16 category at CLTA, Chandigarh. In the final today, Ameek and her partner Sana S Khanna from Maharashtra defeated Punjab combination of Shristi Dhir and Simran Pritam 3-6, 6-3, (10-6). With this triumph, the total number of AITA titles in the career of Ameek rose to 11, which include five in singles and six in doubles.
