Impressive batting by captain Sandeep Pattanaik, Amrit Khatua and Soubhagya Ranjan Mishra helped Odisha draw their four-day C K Nayudu Trophy U-23 Elite Group-C match against Jammu & Kashmir at Gandhi Stadium in Bolangir today. But Jammu & Kashmir gathered three points from this match by virtue of taking first-innings lead, while hosts Odisha got one point.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Jammu & Kashmir mustered a massive total of 634 for eight declared and then bowled Odisha for 206. Forced to follow on after conceding a first-innings lead of 428 runs, Odisha were 243 for two in the second innings when both captains agreed to end the match as draw on the last day.
Sandeep Pattanaik led Odisha by personal example, scoring a century in the first innings and a half-century in the second. Amrit Khatua and Soubhagya Mishra played unbeaten knocks of 66 and 89 respectively in the second innings.
In the only innings of Jammu & Kashmir, captain-stumper Suryansh Raina slammed a double hundred, while Abhishant Bakshi and Shubham Singh Pundir scored a century each. Odisha will play their eighth and last league match against Himachal Pradesh at Dharamsala from January 9 to 12, 2019.
