  Odisha karatekas bag six National medals

Odisha bagged a total of six medals in the National Junior, Cadet & U-21 Karate Championship, which was held at Guwahati in Assam from April 5 to 7, 2019. The medals included one gold, two silver and three bronze. This was informed by Odisha State Karate-do Association today.

International karateka Payal Baral secured the gold medal in U-21 women below 68kg fight category. One silver medal was won by Chirasmita Bhanjdeo in U-21 women above 68kg fight category.

 

Odisha claimed the other silver medal in girls team kata with Saranya Ray, Tejaswie Mahapatro and Adyasha Samantray as the members of the team. Of the three bronze medals, one came from men team kata with Prajwal Bhoi, Kamal Lochan Sahoo and Biswajit Samal as the members of the team.

Ritesh Ray and Rohit Patra pocketed the other two bronze medals in boys 16-17 years and 16-17 years (below 76kg) fight events respectively.
