The six-day championship, featuring 12 nations, was formally declared open by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal. The opening ceremony was also graced by Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, Sports Department Commisioner-cum-Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, TTFI Secretary General M P Singh, OSTTA President L N Gupta, TTFI Working President Prem Chand Verma, CTTF Chairman Sir Alan Ransome, and OSTTA Senior Vice-president Sanjay Singh.
Government of Odisha is organizing the championship with the support of Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) and the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI). The 12 participating countries are: Australia, Bangladesh, Cyprus, England, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Scotland, South Africa, Singapore and Wales. The tournament is being telecast live by Doordharshan.
