  Nagesh Trophy: Odisha bounce back with 2 wins

After suffering 10-run defeat at the hands of Karnataka, Odisha bounced back in style, registering back-to-back wins over hosts Uttar Pradesh and Goa in the Nagesh Trophy National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind, held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on November 9 and 10.

Odisha beat Uttar Pradesh by 40 runs and Goa by 123 runs. The double win put Odisha back on track for a ticket to the quarterfinals. Allrounder Sukhram Majhi put up outstanding performances for Odisha, scoring a total of 218 runs in three innings, which included one unbeaten century and half-century each. Pankaj Bhue and Nakula Badanayak also shone with bat, hitting one half-century each.

 

Among Odisha bowlers, captain Mohammad Jafar Iqbal was most successful with five wickets from three matches, including 4 for 30 against Goa. Tapan Gauda also bowled well, scalping two wickets apiece against Uttar Pradesh and Goa.

November 9 (Northen Railway Ground, Lucknow): Odisha 141/3 in 15 overs (Sukhram Majhi 74*, Nakula Badanayak 45; Mohammad Faisal 2/27) beat Uttar Pradesh 101/7 in 15 overs (Mohammad Faisal 29; Tapan Gauda 2/11, Jujhar Bari 1/3, Md Jafar Iqbal 1/13, Sukhram Majhi 1/1/17) by 40 runs. November 10 (Northen Railway Ground, Lucknow): Odisha 238/2 in 20 overs (Sukhram Majhi 122*, Nakula Badanayak 86) beat Goa 115/9 in 20 overs (Ashutosh Mawskar 32, Akshay Borikar 30*; Md Jafar Iqbal 4/30, Tapan Gauda 2/24, Lingaraj Routra1/17) by 123 runs. MoM: Sukhram Majhi.
