Odisha trounced Assam by an innigs and three runs on the fourth and last day of their Rnji Trophy Elite Group-A match at DRIEMS Ground, Tangi, near Cuttack today. With this remarkable win, Odisha recaptured the No 1 spot in the group table.

This was the fifth win for Odisha, who now have 35 points from seven matches so far. Odisha medium-pacer Debabrata Pradhan, who is fast emerging as an allrounder, was named Player of the Match. He hit a caree-best 79 (125b, 10x4, 2x6) and scalped a total of seven wickets in the match.

Among other successful Odisha players, Shantanu Mishra (66), Anurag Sarangi (58), Govinda Poddar and Abhishek Raut (71) scored a half-century each. Put into bat, Odisha made 436 and then bowled out Assam for 238. Forced to follow on after conceding a first-innings lead of 198 runs, Assam folded up for 195 in the second innings.
