Hockey India today announced a 24-member Indian Junior Women squad, featuring three from Odisha for a tour to Chile this month. The three Odisha players are: midfielders Mariana Kujur, Ajmina Kujur and forward Jiwan Kishori Toppo. The Indian Junior Women Team is scheduled to play six matches during the tour.
The team will be captained by defender Suman Devi Thoudam with defender Ishika Chaudhary serving as the vice-captain. All six matches will be played in Santiago. The Indian team is set to tour Chile for their much-needed preparations for the Junior World Cup and Junior Asia Cup this year.
The team will take on the Junior Chile Team on January 17 and 18. Thereafter, the Indian Junior Team will be up against the Senior Chile Team on January 20, 21, 23 and 24.
The Indian Junior Women Team played their last competition in December 2019 against Australia and New Zealand in the three-nation tournament. The team played four matches – two against New Zealand and two against Australia. They won two matches, drew one and lost one.
