Bengal player Manoj Sewa made a big impact in the Gurukul-Sports Lawn Senior Men Tennis Tournament, winning the doubles title and finishing singles runner-up at Gurukul Resort Tennis Complex, Mendhashal, Bhubaneswar today. Organised by Gurukul Tennis Academy (GTA), the tournament started earlier on January 10.
Top seed in 35+ singels, Sewa settled as singles runner-up when he lost to second seed and GTA director Santosh Kumar Mallik in the final 4-6, 3-6. But the experienced Sewa compensated his singles setback by winning the 35+ doubles title with Harsh Dabriwal as partner.
In the doubles final, Sewa and Dabriwal beat second-seeded Debasis Hyed and Kartik Saha 8-4. Kamlesh Soni and Justin Panmei of Bhubaneswar won the 45+ doubles title, defeating city opponents Snehasis Behera and CI Patel in the summit clash 9-8 (7-5).
