Odisha shuttlers won six medals in the National  Para-Badminton Championship, which concluded in Benarus, Uttar Pradesh  today. The medals include two gold, two silver and two bronze. Pramode  Bhagat was the architect of Odisha success, winning both the gold as  well as one silver medal.
Bhagat won the mens SL3 singles gold,  beating Manoj Sarkar of Uttarakhand in the final 21-12, 7-21, 21-17. He  went on to clinch a golden double, capturing the mens SL3 doubles crown  with Manoj Sarkar as his partner. They defeated Kuldeep Rathi Haryana  and Bikram Kumar of Jharkhand 21-16, 21-6 in the summit clash.
Bhagat  missed out on a treble as he settled for silver medal in SL3 mixed  doubles event with Jyoti Jhangad of Haryana as his partner. They lost to  Rakesh Pandey of Haryana and Parul Parmar of Gujarat 17-21, 8-21 in the  final match.
The other silver medal for Odisha was claimed by  Sunil Pradhan in mens SS-6 doubles category. Pradhan and his West Bengal  partner Raja Magotra were beaten in the final by Rajasthan-Maharashtra  combination of Krishna Nagar and Mark Dharmani 22-14, 22-11.
The  two broze medals for Odisha were claimed by Nurul Hossain Khan in  wheelchair-2 singles category. He won one bronze in singles event after  losing to Abu Habeda 13-21, 3-21 in the semifinals. Nurul secured the  other bronze medal in wheelchair-2 doubles with Srikedan Ahmed of Uttar  Pradesh as his partner. They went down in the semifinals to Prem Ale of  Maharashtra and Sanjib Baidya of Punjab 6-21, 6-21.
