Dr Batra and Ms Norman also presented mementos to Principal Secretary to Government, Sports and Youth Services Department, Additional Charge Principal Secretary to Government, Tourism Department, Vishal Kumar Dev and Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) Managing Director, Balwant Singh.

This was the first Odisha visit of the year and second in two months by Batra and Norman. During their last visit, Batra and Norman went to Rourkela and reviewed the infrastructure work carried out for the Mens Hockey World Cup India 2023.

Odisha Government has been gearing up to host back-to-back Mens Hockey World Cup. While the 2018 World Cup was held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, the 2023 edition will take place at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced the construction of a new world-class hockey stadium in Rourkela for staging of the 2023 World Cup. The new hockey stadium, the second in Rourkela, would have a seating capacity of 20,000.
