14 Feb 2021

Odisha FC suffered 10th defeat in the 7th Indian Super League (IsL) as they were vanquished 3-1 by NorthEast United FC in the 93rd match at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Goa today. This was the 17th match for Odisha FC and they maintained their place at the bottom of the league table with nine points.

On the other hand, the win over Odisha FC enabled NorthEast United rise to the third spot in the standings with 26 points from 17 games. They raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Luis Machado (9th, 24th) and Deshorn Brown (19th). Bradden Inman netted a consolation for Odisha FC in the 45th minute.

New signing Inman, who has impressed since arriving from ATK Mohun Bagan, scored the only goal for Odisha FC after receiving a pass from Daniel Lalhlimpuia. He attempted a finish from a narrow angle, but his shoot took a heavy deflection off NEUFC defender Mashoor Shereef and went in.

Bhubaneswar-based Odisha FC could not muster a comeback despite NorthEast going down to 10 men in the 86th minute after Gurjinder Kumar was sent off following a second yellow card.
