Odisha Athletics Association has announced a 12-member state squad for participation in the 36th National Junior Athletics Championship, scheduled to be held at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, Assam from 6 to 10 February, 2021.

Among the 12 athletes, 11 were selected from the State Level Trials, which was conducted with the support of Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar on 16 and 17 January, 2021, while javelin thrower Dhanmati Xess secured direct entry.

The 12-member Odisha squad includes four athletes from Bhubaneswar, three from Cuttack, two from KIIT University and one each from Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi and Sambalpur. The squad features seven girls and five boys.

ODISHA SQUAD:

GIRLS: 1. Sabita Toppo, Bhubaneswar (U-16 80m hurdles, long jump), 2. Anshika Routray, Cuttack (U-16 shot put, discus), 3. Dhanmati Xess, Cuttack (U-18 javelin), 4. Ankita Mohapatra, Jagatsinghpur (U-14 shot put), 5. Madhumita Deb, KIIT (U-20 100m, 200m run), 6. Manisha Merel, KIIT (U-20 long jump, 100m run), 7. Prachi P Moharana, Sambalpur (U-14 shot put).

BOYS: 1. Balabhadra Batra, Bhubaneswar (U-16 800m run), 2. Rajendra Sidhu, Bhubaneswar (U-16 long jump, 80m hurdles), 3. Dilip Naik, Bhubaneswar (U-20 800m, 1500m run), 4. Ommkar P Nanda, Cuttack (U-14 shot put), 5. Lalu Prasad Bhoi, Kalahandi (U-18 long jump).
