Nimpur Sports & Cricket Club, Cuttack emerged champions in the Dr Prachi Bhusan Tripathy Memorial Twin City Under-19 Cricket Tournament, defeating Paramount Sporting, Bhubaneswar by 50 runs in the final at Shree Jayadev College Ground, Naharkanta, Bhubaneswar today.
Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera inaugurated the tournament, which was organised by Shree Jaydev Sports Association (SJSA), Naharkanta. A total of 16 teams from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar participated in the tournament.
Ajay Rout of Nimpur SCC bagged the prize as Man of the Tournament. The prizes for best batsman, best bowler and best wicket-keeper were claimed by Paramount players Sudarshan Swain, Sayed Ahmed Tuffel and Bidyadhar Behera respectively.
Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president Pankaj Lochan Mohanty handed over the trophy and prizes in the presence of Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Kumar Rout, Bhubaneswar Athletic Association secretary Sourya Ranjan Parida, Shree Jayadev College principal Prabhu Charan Gochhayat and SJSA secretary Sarat Chandra Sahoo.
Five OCA Panel umpires were felicitated on the occasion with Soumya Ranjan Das Smruti Samman. They were: Subrat Das, Aru Kumar Basa (Sambalpur), Kalyan Ray Choudhury (Cuttack), Satya Prasad Rath (Rourkela), Satyandra Mohan Mohanty (Puri).
