Champion and runner-up in both categories qualified to represent Odisha in the National U-18 Online Championship, scheduled to be held from June 10 to 12. Besides these four, WFM Saina Salonika, Mahitosh Dey, Harshit Ranjan Sahu and Suryapranjal Indrajeet SP would also participate in National U-18 Championship.
The Odisha State U-18 Online Championship was inaugurated by KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta. All India Chess Federation president Sanjay Kapoor, secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan, Khimji Jewellers director Mitesh Khimji were present in the virtual platform as guests of honour.
GM Swayams Mishra, head of Fairplay Committee; Ranjan Mohanty, president of AOCA; Debabratta Bhatta, secretary and Chief Arbiter Suresh Chandra Sahoo were present at the function. The championship carried a total prize fund of Rs 10,000, including Rs 1,000 each for the two title winners.
