  State U-12 Online Chess: Priansh, Anishka triumph

Priansh Das and Anishka Pandey emerged victorious in open and girls categories respectively in the Odisha State U-12 Open & Girls Online Chess Championship which was conducted by All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA) in the zoom platform on 14 and 15 June, 2021.

Jajpur boy Priansh scored six points open competition, while Pratyush Nayak of Cuttack settled as runner-up with five points. This was the second title triumph within a week for Priansh, who emerged champion in the open category of the State U-14 Online Chess Championship earlier on June 11.

In girls category, Khordha player Anishka topped the table with 4.5 points out of a possible five. Her district-mate Arushi Srichandan finished runner-up, scoring four points. A total of 79 players, including 25 girls participated in the championship.

 

The two-day championship was inaugurated by the Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte, who is the selection committee chairman and chief coach of All India Chess Federation (AICF). WGM Kiran Manisha Mohanty, Fairplay Committee Head GM Swayams Mishra, AOCA president Ranjan Mohanty, secretary Debabratta Bhatta, chief Arbiter Suresh Chandra Sahoo were present on the occasion.
