The FIH Hockey Pro League matches between Great Britain and India, scheduled to be played on 8 and 9 May, 2021 have been postponed. This follows the recent decision by the UK Government to add India to the red list of countries due to the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic.
International Hockey Federation (FIH), Hockey India and Great Britain Hockey are monitoring the evolution of the situation in the hope of rearranging these matches at a later date. However, India will still travel to Europe in May to play FIH Hockey Pro League matches against Spain (15-16 May) and Germany (22-23 May) while Great Britain will host Germany (12-13 May), USA (Women, 22-23 May) and Spain (Men, 22-23 May).
On a positive note, Australia and New Zealand are continuing their efforts to find a date for the matches between them following the announcement of a trans-Tasman travel bubble this week.
India now sit at the fourth place in the league table with 15 points from eight matches. They have won three three matches outright, three by shoot out and lost two so far. Belgium are leading the table with 32 points from 13 games, followed by Germany and Netherlands with 19 and 18 points from eight and 11 matches respectively.
