  Kalahandi Cup: Centuries galore in two-day games

East Coast Railway, Cuttack-A, Rourkela, Odisha Blue, Odisha Green and Odisha Violet registered wins in respective two-day matches of the Kalahandi Cup Senior & U-19 Men Inter-District Cricket Tournament at different grounds in Cuttack today.

East Coast Railway rode on a seven-wicket haul by Rajesh Mohanty and an unbeaten century by captain Sujit Lenka to crush Sundargarh by 253 runs. Odisha Blue prevailed over Khordha by 67 runs, thanks to a five-wicket haul by Basanta Mohanty and a half-century by Sukesh Heera.

A towering knock of 174 by Odisha Yellow captain Debasish Samantray went in vain as his team lost to Odisha Green on the basis of first-innings lead. For Odisha Green, Anshuman Rath and Rakesh Biswal hit 113 and 51 respectively. Allrounder Debabrata Pradhan also made notable contribution, bagging four wickets and scoreing 36 runs.

 

Abhishek Raut and Biplab Samantray powered Cuttack-A to an 88-run win over Jharsuguda, slamming a polished 115 and picking up four wickets for 25 runs respectiveluy.

Rourkela owed their hard-fought seven-run win over Odisha Red to Subhankar Biswas who slammed an unbeaten 110. A four-wicket haul by Ayaskant Sahu and half-century by Hemanta Nayak also proved valuable for Rourkela.

Odisha Violet defeated Odisha Pink on the basis of first-innings lead. Pankaj Senapati was the top scorer for Odisha Violet with 79 runs. Allrounder Sarbeswar Mohanty also put up notable performance for with winners.

(At SCB Medical College Ground, Cuttack): East Coast Railway 331/4 in 90 overs (Sujit Lenka 108*, Prashanta Sahoo 46, Abhishek Yadav 44, Sandeep Mulia 36) beat Sundargarh 78/10 in 43.3 overs (Amrit Khatua 30*; Rajesh Mohanty 7/29) by 253 runs. PoM: Rajesh Mohanty.

(At Ravenshaw University Ground-1, Cuttack): Khordha 129/10 in 50 overs (Jyoti Ranjan Behera 40, Aryashree Debasish Bhatta 28; Basanta Mohanty 5/11, Sumit Sharma 2/20, B Shiva 2/36) lost to Odisha Blue 196/10 in 59.3 overs (Sukesh Heera 54, Aakash Chandra Nayak 40, Basanta Mohanty 23*, Ronald RB Singh 21; Rakesh Sharma 4/69, Rakesh Pattnaik 3/21) by 67 runs. (At Nimpur Cricket Ground, Cuttack): Odisha Yellow 286/8 in 90 overs (Debasish Samantray 174, Sourav Swayamprakash 27, Nitish Niranjan Samantray 23; Debabrata Pradhan 4/74, Harshit Rathod 2/78) lost to Odisha Green 301/9 in 88.1 overs (Anshuman Rath 113, Rakesh Biswal 51, Pratik Das 41, Debabrata Pradhan 36; Manoj Barik 3/63, Anshuman Mishra 2/35, Nitish Niranjan Samantray 2/59) on first innings lead.
