Balasore allrounder Nauttam Bhanja captured four wickets and scored 23 useful runs to help his team beat Nayagarh by 95 runs in a preliminary league match of the Kalahandi Cup Inter-District Cricket Tournament (Senior & U-19 Men) at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneswar today.

In another match of the day, Nuapada rode on a knock of 47 by Saroj Kumar Panda to edge out Deogarh by seven wickets, via DL Method at Driems Cricket Stadium, Tangi, Cuttack. Both the matches were abandoned due to rain yesterday.

Match 17 (KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneswar): Balasore 201/10 in 46.5 overs (Ronald Das 63, Tapan K Murmu 61, Nauttam Bhanja 23; Badal Bhol 3/42, Sai P Acharya 2/31, Prasanta Rana 2/39) beat Nayagarh 106/10 in 32 overs (Krushna C Barik 28; Nauttam Bhanja 4/27, Shekhar Majhi 4/18, Subha S Barik 2/10) by 95 runs.

Match 18 (At Driems Cricket Stadium, Tangi, Cuttack): Deogarh 166/10 in 50 overs (Prabin Tirkey 42, Prakash Sahu 26*, Dushmanta Sahu 24; Md Noaman R Khan 3/27, Anshuman Gupta 3/34) lost to Nuapada 117/3 in 19.3 overs (Saroja K Panda 47, Gourav K Rout 29*) by 7 wickets (DL Method, match reduced to 25 overs, target 114 runs).
