Tennis in Odisha received two major boosts in within a week with Sohini Sanjay Mohanty getting selected in the three-member Indian girls team for the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition, Final Qualifying Event, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from 18 to 23 April 2022.

Earlier this week, Odisha boy Debasis Das made it to a three-member Indian team for the Junior Davis Cup Qualifying Event, which is billed to take place at RK Khanna Tennis Stadium in New Delhi 11 to 16 April 2022.

According to All India Tennis Association (AITA) secretary Anil Dhupar, Aishwarya Dayanand Jadhav and Thaniya Sarai Gogulamanda are other two players selected in the Indian team, which will be captained by Namita Bal.

Bhubaneswar girl Sohini is now occupying the No 1 position in AITA U-14 girls National Rankings with close to 800 points to her name. She is honing her skills at Farhan Tennis Academy in Patia, Bhubaneswar, under the tutelage of coach Syed Farhan Ali.
