Odisha girl Aahan established another milestone in her bloosoming tennis career by winning a double crown in the AITASuper Series Tournament at the Chamunda Tennis Academy in Karnal, Haryana today. She clinched the double, capturing titles in under 12-and 14 singles events.
A trainee of Bhubaneswar-based Ace Base Tennis Academy, Aahan won the U-12 singles crown, defeating Anandita Upadhyay (Haryana) in the final 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. She added the U-14 singles title with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 win over Prachi Malik, also of Haryana, in the summit clash.
It would have been a triple crown for Aahan if she and her partner Prachi Malik had not lost in the U-14 doubles final. They finished runners-up after going down to Haryana-Rajasthan pair of Anandita Upadhyay and Habhisha Choudhary 4-6, 5-7.
“It is a proud moment for Ace Base Tennis Academy,’’ said Ajay Kumar Nishank on the latest achievement of Aahan. “She is currently ranked India No 2 in Under-12 girls category. But after this win she may became No 1,” added Nishank.
