Susant Sahu secured the fourth medal for host Odisha in the ongoing IWLF Youth, Junior and Senior National Weightlifting Championships, winning one bronze in senior men 67kg inter-state section at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium in KIIT University, Bhubaneswar today.

Susant originally finished fifth in the open category, lifting 117kg in snatch and 151kg in clean & jerk for a total of 268kg. Railway lifters Manjunath Marati and K Neelam Raju bagged gold and bronze respectively, while silver went to MarkioTario of Arunachal Pradesh.

But in inter-state section, Susant bagged bronze as he finished third behind Markio Tario and Subhash Lahare of Arunachal and Chhattisgarh respectively. Jagdish Nahak, also from Odisha, finished sixth in senior men 67kg class, lifting 118kg in snatch and 144kg in clean & jerk for a total of 262kg.

Prabhat Jhodia was another Odisha lifter in action today, but finished seventh in youth men 67kg with a total lift of 237kg. He lifted 101kg in snatch and 136kg in clean & jerk.

In junior men 67kg category, Damadaor Panigrahi from Odisha settled for 11th position, lifting 98kg in snatch and 130kg in clean & jerk for a total of 228kg.
