Odisha FC ended their Indian Super League (ISL) 2022 journey on a disappointing note as they were trounced by Jamshedpur FC 5-1 in their 20th and last league match at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa today. Odisha FC finished seventh with 23 points. Out of their 20 matches, Odisha FC won six, lost nine and drew five.
Daniel Chima Chukwu (23rd, 26th) scored a first-half brace for Jamshedpur FC to take his season tally to nine goals before Paul Ramfangzauva (46th) pulled one back for the Odisha FC to keep the match evenly balanced.
However, goals from Ritwik Das (54th), Jordan Murray (71st) and Ishan Pandita (87th) made it an one-way win for Jamshedpur FC. This was the sixth consecutive win for Jamshedpur FC, who took a major step towards securing the ISL Winners Shield.
Odisha FC was dealt a major blow early in the game after losing Aridai Cabrera to injury. On the other end, Greg Stewart yet again played a major role in the first goal of the match as his free-kick hit the crossbar and fell to Daniel Chima Chukwu. The striker made no mistake in scoring with the rebound.
To make matters worse for Odisha FC, Jonathas was shown a second yellow card for unsportsmanlike behaviour, which saw him leave the field, reducing the team to 10-men. A late strike from Ishan Pandita saw Jamshedpur FC score their fifth goal and secure the win with style and dominance.
