  Spanish International: Pramod, Deep bag 4 medals

Odisha Paralympic and World champion Pramod Bhagat clinched a glorious treble in the Spanish Para Badminton International II 2022, winning gold medals in mens singles, doubles and mixed doubles events in Vitoria, Spain today.

Odisha contributed another medal to the Indian tally as Deep Ranjan Bisoyee won the mens SL3-SL4 doubles bronze with Mohammad Arwaz Ansari as his partner.

India won 34 medals in the six-day Spanish Para Badminton International II, which was held from March 1 to 6. The 34 medals included 11 gold, 7 silver and 16 bronze.

 

Pramod bagged the mens singles SL3 gold, defeating fellow Indian Nitesh Kumar in the hard-fought final 17-21, 21-17, 21-17. He claimed the mens doubles SL3-SL4 title with partner Manoj Sarkar, overcoming compatriots Sukant Kadam and Nitesh Kumar in the summit clash 21-19, 11-21, 21-11.

Pramod and Palak Kohli were crowned champions in the mixed doubls SL3-SU5 event, getting the better of Indian opponents Ruthick Ragupathi and Manshi Girishchandra Joshi in the final 14-21, 21-11, 21-14. This is the first time that Pramod won three gold medals in an international tournament.

Deep Ranjan Bisoyee and Mohammad Arwaz Ansari settled for the bronze medal in mens doubles SL3-SL4 event after losing in the semifinals against Indian opponents Sukant Kadam and Nitesh Kumar 13-21, 10-21.
