Odisha badminton star Pramod Bhagat added yet another feather to his cap by winning the mens singles SL3 gold medal in the 4th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International in Dubai today. He emerged champion, defeating compatriot Nitesh Kumar 19-21, 21-17, 21-17 in the hard-fought final, which lasted for 61 minutes.
Earlier in the semifinals, Bhagat overcame Daisuke Fujihara from Japan 14-21, 21-14, 21-18. This was the 27th gold and 55th overall medal for Bhagat in para badminton international competitions. In case of the year 2022, this was the sixth gold and 11th overall medal for the wonderful shuttler from Atabira in Nuapara district.
Bhagat missed another medal in the Dubai International as he lost in the SL3-SU-5 mixed doubles quarterfinals with Manisha Ramdass as his partner. Bhagat and Manisha went down to compatriots Manasi Girishchandra Joshi and Ruthick Raghupathi 21-12, 16-21, 19-21.
Odisha international Deep Ranjan Bisoyee also participated in the Dubai Internationl but could not win any medal. He bowed out mens SL4 singles pre-quarterfinals and SL3-SL4 doubles quarterfinals with Md Arwaz Ansari as his partner.
