India U-14 Girls team, featuring Odisha ace Sohini Mohanty, won the bronze medal at the ITF World Junior Tennis Championship Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying, which concluded at R K Khanna Tennis Stadium in New Delhi today. India also qualified for the World Group competition, finishing frouth in the Final Qualifying.
A total of 14 countries participated in the Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying, which was played on leagu-cum-knockout format. Japan won the gold medal, defeating Australia 2-1, while Korea finished third getting the better of India 2-1. Australia secured silver, while both Korea and India settled with bronze. The top four teams qualified for the World Group, which would be played later this year.

Host India qualified for the knock-out stage by finishing second in Group-C league with two wins and one loss. The Indian team, consisting of Aishwarya Jadhav, Sohini Mohanty and Sai Janvi, beat Singapore and Hong Kong by 3-0 identical margin, but lost to Korea 0-3.
In the knock-out round, featuring eight teams, India beat Kazakhstan 2-1 in the quarterfinals, but lost to Australia 1-2 in the semifinals. A cadet of Bhubaneswar-based Farhan Tennis Academy, Sohini Sohini played a total of five rubbers, won three and lost two. In singles, she won one and lost one, and in doubles, won two and lost one. Namita Bal was the captain of the India team.

April 18 (Group-C League): India beat Singapore 3-0 (Sohini Mohanty beat Saina Vaidya 6-2, 6-4; Aishwarya Jadhav beat Chanya Kai NG 6-0, 6-0; Sohini Mohanty-Sai Janvi Talari beat Sophie Chua and Saina Vaidya 6-2, 6-1).
April 19 (Group-C League): India beat Hong Kong 3-0 (Sai Janvi beat Fung Tak Sum 7-5, 6-3; Aishwarya Jadhav beat Rosalyn Hau Ching 6-4, 6-4; Aishwarya Jadhav-Sohini Mohanty beat Fung Taksum-Celeste Yeh 6-0, 6-4).
April 20 (Group-C League): India lost to Korea 0-3 (Sai Janvi lost to Lee Ha Eum 3-6, 3-6, Aishwarya Jadhav lost to Ju Heewon 3-6, 6-4, 4-6; Aishwarya Jadhav-Sohini Mohanty lost to Lee Ha Eum-Seo A Lee by walkover).
April 21 (QFs): India beat Kazakhstan 2-1 (Sai Janvi Talari beat Satima Toregen 4-6, 6-3, 6-3; Aishwarya Jadhav beat Ariana Goguline 6-2, 6-3; Aishwarya Jadhav-Sohini Mohanty lost to Yeva Korysheva-Satima Toregen by walkover).
April 22 (SFs): India lost to Australia 1-2 (Sohini Mohanty lost to Emerson Jones 2-6, 2-6, Aishwarya Jadhav lost to Tahlia Kokkinis 2-6, 5-7; Aishwarya Jadhav-Sohini Mohanty Aishwarya Jadhav-Sohini Mohanty beat Diana Badalyan-Tahlia Kokkinis by walkover).
