  KIUG 2021: Punit Sahu lifts bronze medal for KIIT

Odisha weightlifter Punit Chandra Sahu from KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, won one bronze medal on the third day of the 2nd Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru, lifting 115kg in snatch and 170kg in clean & jerk for a total of 285 in men’s 96kg class today.

This was the fourth medal for KIIT and sixth for Odisha in the ongoing edition of the Khelo India University Games.

Maganti Keerthi of KIIT finished fifth in women 76kg class with lifts of 75kg in snatch and 90kg in clean & jerk for a total of 165kg. K Abhishikhta and Sweta Nayak secured fourth and fifth position respectively in women 81kg class.

Representing KIIT, Abhishikhta lifted 74kg in snatch, 90kg in clean & jerk and 164kg in total. Turning out for Rama Devi Womens University Sweta lifted a total of 160kg, which included 73kg in snatch and 87kg in clean & jerk.

In men hockey, Sambalpur University posted their first win, defeating Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur (UP) 2-1 in Pool B. Nabin Kujur scored the two goals for Sambalpur in the 52nd and 60th minutes.
