Odisha Government today felicitated international cyclists Swati Singh and Dinesh Kumar for winning one bronze medal each in respective team pursuit events at the recently concluded Asian Track Cycling Championship 2022 in New Delhi.
Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera felicitated the two cycling stars of the State with mementos and cash award of Rs 2 lakhs each during a function at Kalinga Hockey Stadium, Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Odisha woman cycling legend and Arjuna Awardee Minati Mohapatra.
Sports & Youth Services Department Joint Secretaries Kailash Chandra Das, Ranjit Parida, OSD Siddharth Shankar Sahu and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
Thanking the State Government for its support, both Swasti and Dinesh, who hail from Rourkela, admitted that it would encourage them to achieve greater success for the State and the country.
According to a press release from I&PR Department, Dinesh Kumar has been selected in the Indian team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held in Birmingham, England from July 28 to August 8.
