  Subhrant, Shristi emerge best swimmers in State Sr Meet

Subhrant Patra (Gunjam) and Shristi Upadhyay (Bhubaneswar) were crowned as best man and woman individual champions, bagging five and four gold medals respectively in the 62nd Odisha State Seniors Swimming Championship which concluded at the Biju Patnaik Swimming Pool, Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today.

Bhubaneswar team lifted the trophy as overall champions while Sambalpur team finished runners-up. Team Bhubaneswar topped the table with 308 points while Team Sambalpur finished with 200 points.
 

The highlight of the two-day championship is that four swimmers achieved the qualifying standard, prescribed by the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) for the National Seniors Aquatic Championship, scheduled to be held in Guwahati from 7 September to 10 September 2022.

The four are: Mannata Mishra (Women 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke), Pratyasha Ray (Women 50m, 100m backstroke), Shristi Upadhya (Women 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly) and Subhrant Patra (Men 100m butterfly).

The State Championship was jointly organised by the Odisha State Swimming Association and the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha.

MEN: 4x100m Freestyle Relay: 1. Bargarh, 2. Bhubaneswar, 3. Sambalpur. 800m Freestyle: 1. Yajat Gupta (Bhubaneswar), 2. Manojit Roy (Cuttack), 3. Ayush Badu (Bhubaneswar). 100m Back Stroke: 1. Nabin Sharma (Bargarh), 2. Anmol Mohanty (Cuttack), 3. Piyush Thakur (Sambalpur). 50m Butterfly: 1. Shubhrant Patra (Ganjam), 2. Jadu Budek (Sambalpur), 3. Bikash Haripal (Sambalpur). 50m Breast Stroke: 1. Amiya Kumar Pradhan (Sambalpur), 2. Tanu Suna (Bargarh), 3. Hitesh Maharana (Sambalpur). 100m Freestyle: 1. Shubhrant Patra (Ganjam), 2. 2. Jadu Budek (Sambalpur), 3. Bikash Haripal (Sambalpur). 400m Individual Medley: 1. Nabin Sharma (Bargarh), 2. Anshuman Vashist (Bhubaneswar), 3. Manojit Roy (Cuttack).

WOMEN: 4x100m Freestyle Relay: 1. Bhubaneswar, 2. Sambalpur, 3. Boudh. 800m Freestyle: 1. Addyasha Mishra (Bhubaneswar), 2. Priti Pallavi (Sambalpur). 100m Back Stroke: 1. Pratyasa Ray (Bhubaneswar), 2. Prachi Bharadwaj Padhi (Bhubaneswar), 3. Mahika Mahakur (Sambalpur). 50m Butterfly: 1. Shristi Upadhyaya (Bhubaneswar), 2. Akankshya Nayak (Bhubaneswar), 3. Arpita Samal (Cuttack). 50m Breast Stroke: 1. Mannata Mishra (Bhubaneswar), 2. Arpita Sahu (Sambalpur), 3. Mahika Mahakur (Sambalpur). 100m Freestyle: 1. Anshika Aradhana Sahoo (Bhubaneswar), 2.
