Odisha girl Aradhyaa Verma achieved the biggest success of career by winning the doubles title in the Asian U-14 Tennis Championship, which concluded at the SAIL Bhilai Steel Plant Tennis Complex in Bhilai, Chattisgarh today. Aradhyaa missed out on a double crown as she lost in the singles final.
Bhubaneswar girl Aradhyaa won the doubles title with partner Shaivi Dalal from Gujarat. They beat compatriots Aahan A (Odisha) and Nandini Kansal (UP) 6-3, 6-3 in the final match.
Aradhyaa finished singles runner-up, losing to Jaya Kapoor of Uttarakhand in the final 3-6, 1-6. In the semifinals, Jaya beat Aahan 6-0, 6-0, while Aradhyaa prevailed over Nandini Kansal 6-2, 6-2.
Student of Kalinga International School, Aradhyaa has been training at Farhan Tennis Academy in Patia, Bhubaneswar, under coach Farhan Ali. Aahan also belongs to Bhubaneswar and hons her skill under coach Ajay Nishank at Ace Base Tennis Academy, Naharkanta, Bhubanesar.
