Khordha players won three out of four titles in the Odisha State U-7 & U-17 Chess Championships, which concluded at Srusti Academy of Management in Bhubaneswar today. Ganjam denied Khordha a clean sweep by capturing one title.
Aditi Moharana (Khordha) and Shivam Sabat (Ganjam) emerged champions in the U-7 Girs and Open categories respectively. Top two finishers qualified to represent Odisha in National U-7 Championship, which would take place at Udaipur, Rajasthan from 15 to 20 July 2022.
In the U-17 State Championship, Arushi Srichandan (Khordha) and Manish Kumar (Khordha) bagged the titles in the Girls and Open category respectively. Top two boys and top four girls became eligible to represent Odisha in the National Under-17 Championship, scheduled to to be held at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar from 1 to 9 July 2022.
Odisha chess stars, IM Anwesh Upadahyay and Commonwealth medallist Sunyasakta Satpathy graced the valedictorhy ceremony as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Srusti Academy of Management Director, Professor Gangadhar Mishra and All Odisha Chess Association Treasurer, Bhabesh Mohanty were present on the occasion.
