  Khelo India Weightlifting: Odisha capture 3 more medals

Odisha bagged three more medals on the fourth day of the Khelo India Women National Ranking Weightlifting Tournament (Phase-2) at Modinagar in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh today. The three medals include one silver and two bronze.

Monali Sahoo won the silver medal in 76kg junior category, lifting 73kg in snatch, 96kg in clean & jerk and 169kg in total. Monali belongs to Bhubaneswar and trains at Utkal Karate School. She is a former karateka and won medals in an international invitational karate competition in Kolkata in 2019.

 

The two bronze medals of the day were bagged by Maganti Keerthi and Swetalina Nayak in 76kg senior and 81kg junior category respectively. A second year BCom student of KIIT University, Keerthi lifted 79kg in snatch and 95kg in clean & jerk for a total of 174kg.

Swetalina finished third in her weight category with a total lift of 163kg. A trainee of Bhubaneswar-based Odisha Weightlifting High Performance Centre, Swetalina lifted 74kg in snatch and 89kg in clean & jerk.

With the three medals today, the total number of medals for Odisha increased to seven. The seven medals include four silver and three bronze. Earlier Jyoshna Sabar, Sneha Soren and Mina Santa (A) won one silver each, while Rima Bhoi secured one bronze.
