Odisha FC slipped from the top of the table to the third position in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) after losing to Hyderabad FC 0-1 in their fifth match at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad today. Mohammad Yasir scored the only goal of the match for the home team in the eighth minute.
This was the second defeat for Bhubaneswar-based Odisha FC, who now have nine points in their account. They have registered three wins so far.
With this win, Hyderabad FC extended their lead at the top of the table and nabbed their fourth consecutive clean sheet after beating Odisha FC 1-0 in the with 13 points from five matches.
Odisha FC defender Shubham Sarangi missed this game due to an injury he picked up in the last match against Bengaluru FC. The Hero of the Match Award was pocketed by Nikhil Poojary of Hyderabad FC.
The lone gole of the match netted inside ten minutes. Halicharan Narzary was twisted and turned on the left flank before whipping a cross past Meitei. The cross was headed into the bottom right corner by an unmarked Yasir in the eighth minute.
Three points against the Juggernauts increased lead of Hyderabad FC at the top of the table. They are now four points clear of FC Goa in second place. Odisha FC will get a break during Matchweek-6 and then travel to Kolkata for their next game against East Bengal FC on November 18.
