Odisha bagged three gold medals on the second day of the 37th National Junior Athletics Championship at SAI Athletics Stadium in Guwahati, Assam today. The three gold medals were captured by sprinters Lalu Prasad Bhoi, Dondapati Mruty Jayaram and shot putter Ommkar Prasad Nanda.
With Dhanmati Xess striking gold in U-20 women javelin throw earlier on the opening day, the total number of medals for Odisha in the five-day championship became four (all gold).
Lalu Prasad Bhoi secured the gold medal in U-20 mens 100 metre run, clocking 10.71 seconds. This was the first National Junior medal for Kalahandi sprinter Bhoi, who is a cadet of Bhubaneswar-based Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics High Performance Centre.
