The All India Chess Federation (AICF) has appointed Odisha woman player-turned-instructor Aparajita Gochhikar as one of two coaches of the Indian contingent for the FIDE World Cadet Chess Championship, scheduled to be held in Batumi, Georgia from 15 to 28 September 2022.

Georgian Chess Federation is the host of the FIDE World Cadet Chess Championship, which would feature competition for Under-8, U-10 and U-12 age categories (boys and girls). AICF has selected a 65-member squad to represent India in this championship.

She was also the coach of Indian team that clinched gold medal in the Asian Youth Chess Championship, held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Aparajita was a member of the FIDE Fair Play Panel (FPP) in the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad held recently in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She belongs to Puri and works at National Aluminium Company (Nalco), Bhubaneswar.
