  U-16 Inter-District Cricket: Nayagarh stun Rourkela

Nayagarh caused a major upset on the opening day of the OCA U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament, defeating Rourkela by 27 runs in a preliminary league match at Ravenshaw Ground-1 in Cuttack. Shlok Thakur played crucial role in the Nayagarh win, capturing three wickets.

In two other upsets, Malkangiri trounced Dhenkanal by 105 runs, while Boudh beat Khordha by four wickets. Keonjhar, Deogarh, Bhubaneswar-A, Balasore and Jharsuguda posted wins in five other matches of the day.

15 September (Match 1, East Coast Railway Ground): Jajpur 147/9 in 50.0 overs (Ali A Shaikh 44, Pragyan Panda 26; Subham Maharana 3/29, Devrajariyel Jena 3/32, Arpit Mahanta 2/22) lost to Keonjhar 148/8 in 48 overs (Abhiswet Hota 30, Omkar Mahanta 25, Anup Naik 21, Arpit Mahanta 20; Sayed R Hosen 2/22, Jagan Malik 2/24, S Akhter 2/42) by 2 wickets. 15 September (Match 2, CV Raman Ground): Sonepur 96/10 in 26.3 overs (Swastik Choudhury 4/19, Alok Patra 4/19) lost to Deogarh 97/6 in 22.3 overs (Abhishek Dubey 2/22, Rohan Pritt 2/29, Abhinash Pradhan 2/33) by 4 wickets. PoM: Alok Patra.

15 September (Match 3, Ravenshaw Ground-1): Nayagarh 146/10 in 46.5 overs (Rajeev Sahoo 37, Debajyoti Pattanaik 26, Biswajeet Pradhan 22; Rehan Khan 3/25, Khuswant Sandhu 2/29, Kusmit Pradhan 2/32) beat Rourkela 119/10 in 42.4 overs (Rehan Khan 34*, Bansh Mahanta 21; Shlok Thakur 3/21, Riky Mohanty 3/32) by 27 runs.
