Odisha ended campaign with a total of three medals in the 17th National Youth (U-18) Athletics Championships, which concluded at Tatya Tope Stadium in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) today. The three medals include one gold and two silver.
Laxmipriya Kisan and Dondapati Mrutyum Jayaram secured one silver medal each on the second day of the three-day championships. Laxmipriya finished second in girls 800m run, clocking 2:16.48.
In girls 800m event, Ashakiran Barla (Jharkhand) and Asha (Haryana) won the gold and bronze medal with timings of 2:08.45 and 2:16.60 respectively. Ashakiran also creatded new meet record, erasing the previous record of 2:08.56, set by Priscilla Daniel in 2019.
Dondapati Jayaram pocketed the other silver medal for Odisha in boys 100m sprint with time of 10.91 seconds. The lone gold medal for Odisha was bagged by Sabita Toppo in girls 100m hurdles earlier on the opening day. Odisha athletes failed to win any medal on the third and last day.
