Odisha bagged a total of eight medals in the the 6th East Zone Shooting Championship, which was held in Asansol, West Bengal from 18 to 22 September 2022. The eight medals featured five gold, two silver and one bronze.

As many as 53 shooters, including 16 women, represented Odisha in five-day East Zone Championship. Among them, 21 (12 men and nine women) also qualified for the National championships.

Among Odisha competitors, Trish Panigrahi was most successful, bagging one gold each in youth and sub-youth air rifle events. Dilip Kumar Padhi secured one gold in master men air pistol category.

Bhagaban Behera claimed one gold in senior master men 50m rifle prone category, while Rashmi Bhatt captured one gold in master women 10m air pistol event.

Satyajit Sahu won one silver in senior men 25m standard pistol category. Tanishka Samant pocketed one silver and one bronze in youth and junior women air rifle events.

Orissa Rifle Association president Anang Uday Singhdeo, secretary Hari Prasad Pattanayak, joint-secretary Balabhadra Das, treasurer Gouri Mohanty and coach Ashish Nayak congratulated the medals winners of the Odisha squad.
