  Odisha make sizzling start in Santosh Trophy

Host Odisha got off to a flying start in the 76th Senior Men National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy, trouncing Andaman & Nichobar 7-0 in their opening Group-V match at Capital High School Ground in Bhubaneswar today.

Among Odisha goal getters, Sanjit Khora (5, 18) scored a brace, while Adwin Tirkey (6), Bikash Kumar Sahoo (13), Chandra Muduli (61), Chandra Mohan Murmu (86) and Rahul Mukhi (90+1) netted one each.
 

Telangana drubbed Pondicherry 5-1 at Capital High School Ground, while Meghalaya drew with Sikkim 0-0 at OSAP 7th Battalion Ground in two other matches of the day.

State Sports Department (DSYS) Joint-Secretary Sailendra Jena attended the opening ceremony as chief guest. Former India captain Shabir Ali, Football Association of Odisha Secretary Asirbad Behera, Joint-Secretary Avijit Paul, Treasurer Bhakta Ballav Das were present on the occasion.
