  Jr National Badminton: Host Odisha come a cropper

Host Odisha came a cropper in the 45 th Junior (Under-19) National Badminton Championship, which was held at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar from 19 to 24 December 2022. None of the 14 Odisha shuttlers could reach quarterfinals, let alone winning a medal.

Among the Odisha shuttlers, singles player Vishakha Toppo was the only one to win two matches in any event. Organised by Odisha State Badminton Association (OSBA) with the support of Department of Sports & Youth Services, Govt of Odisha and KIIT University, the championship started and ended without any impact.

 

ODISHA RESULTS:

Tahasif Khan: Played two boys singles, won one and lost one to bow out from Round-32. Also played two doubles with Amaya Kumar Nayak, won one and lost one to crash out from round-32.

Arya Majhi: Played two boys singles, won one, lost one to bow out from Round-64.

Amaya Kumar Nayak: Played and lost one boys singles to exit from Round-128. Also played two boys doubles with Tahasif Kharn, won one and lost one to bow out from Round-32.

Arpit Panda: Played and lost one boys singles to get eliminated in Round-128.

Abhijit Maharana: Played two boys doubles with Amrit Mohanty, won one and lost one to exit in Round-32. Also played and lost one mixed double in Round-32 with Harshitaa Rout.

Amrit Mohanty: Played two doubles with Abhijit Maharana, won one and lost one to get eliminated in Round-32. Also played two mixed doubles with Sruti Swain, won one and lost one to depart in Round-16.

Geetashree Dey: Played two girls singles, won one and lost one to bow out from Round-64.

Harshitaa Rout: Played and lost one girls singles to bow out from Round-128. Also played and lost one mixed doubles with Abhijit Maharana and bowed out from first round.

Sruti Swain: Played two girls singles, won one and lost one to bow out from Round-64. Also played two mixed doubles with Amrit Mohanty, won one and lost one to bow out from Round-16.

Vishaka Toppo: Played three girls singles, won two and lost one to bow out from Round-32.

Nishita Mohanty: Played and lost one girls doubles with Ipsita Mohanty to bow out from first round.

Ipsita Mohanty: Played and lost one girls doubles with Nishita Mohanty to bow out from first round.

Adya Padhi: Played and lost one girls doubles with Sweety Priya Pradhan to bow out from first round.

Sweety Priya Pradhan: Played and lost one girls doubles with Adya Padhi to bow out from first round.
