Host Odisha registered a 3-0 emphatic win over Sikkim in their fourth Group-V match of the 76th Senior Men National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy at Capital High School Ground in Bhubaneswar today.
This was the third win for Odisha, who had trounced Andaman & Nicobar 7-0 and Pondicherry 5-0 in their first two matches of the ongoing tournament. In their third match, Odisha had suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against Telangana.
Odisha took an early lead with Sanjit Khora drawing first blood in the fourth minute. Defender Pintu Samal made it 2-0, bulging the Sikkim net in the 23rd minute. Chandra Muduli scored the third goal in the 39th minute. All three goals were scored in the first half.
In two other Group-V matches of the day, Meghalaya demolished Pondicherry 5-0 at OSAP 7th Battalion Ground, while Telangana routed Andaman & Nicobar 5-0 at Capital High School Ground. Odisha will play their fifth and last match against Meghalaya on January 1.
