  State Para Badminton: Double crown for Deep Ranjan

International para shuttler Deep Ranjan Bisoyee bagged a double in the Odisha State Para Badminton Championship, winning one gold medal each in mens singles SL-4 and combined doubles events at Mahanadi Club in Sambalpur yesterday. He claimed the doubles crown with Amarendra Behera as his partner.

G Dillaswar Rao, Nurul Hossain Khan and Anup Ranjan Bada won the other three gold medals of the three-day championship in mens singles SL3, mens singles wheelchair-1/2 and mens singles SU-5 events respectively.

 

A total of 57 players participated in five events of the State championship, which was organized by Para Sports Association of Odisha (PSAO). Paralympic and World champion Pramod Bhagat graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the medals.

PSAO president Kamala Kanta Rath, Mahanadi Club joint-secretary Binod Bihari Nayak, Para Olympian Markanda Reddy and Para Badminton Odisha chairman Siba Prasad Das were present in the presentation ceremony. Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by Sambalpur ADM Ajambar Mohanty on January 6.

Mens Singles SL-3:
1. G Dillaswar Rao (Khordha), 2. Seshagiri Kadiam (Koraput), 3. Pujyam Mishra (Keonjhar).
Mens Singles SL-4: 1. Deep Ranjan Bisoyee (Sundargarh), 2. Subhrajeet Moharana (Khordha), 3. Kuldeep Mahakul (Sambalpur).
Mens Singles SU-5: 1. Anup Ranjan Bada (Sambalpur), 2. Sk Asif Zamal (Khordha), 3. Papun Kumar Kisan (Deogarh).
Men Singles Wheelchair-1/2: 1. Nurul Hossain Khan (Angul), 2. Sudarshan Nag (Koraput), 3. Santosh Behera (Koraput).
Mens Combined Doubles: 1. Deep Ranjan Bisoyee-Amarendra Behera (Sundargarh-Angul), 2. Anup Ranjan Bada-G Dillaswar Rao (Sambalpur-Khordha), 3. Subhrajeet Moharana-Pujyam Mishra (Khordha-Keonjhar).
