Germany and South Korea seal the last two quarterfinal berths, beating France and Argentina respectively in the last two crossover matches of the 15th Mens Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today.

Germany will now take on England in the quarterfinals, while Korea will face Netherlands, with both matches to be played in Bhubaneswar. France and Argentina head into the 9-16 classification matches, which will take place in Rourkela.

In the two contrasting crossover matches today, Germany outclashed France 5-1. Germany captain Mats Grambusch was awarded the Player of the Match. South Korea caused a major upset, edging out 2016 Olympic champions Argentina 3-2 in shootout after play in the regulation time ended in 5-5 draw.

The shoot-out capped off a great comeback for Korea as keeper Jaehyeon Kim saved attempts by Domene and Toscani, and kept Ferreiro out long enough for the eight second to run out, while Korea scored three out of their four attempts to become the only Asian team to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Match 29 (Crossover, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar): Korea (Kim Sunghyun 17-FG, Jeong Junwoo 19-PC, Jang Jonghyun 40-PC, 49-PC, Lee Nam Yong 55-PC) beat Argentina (Maico Casella 7-FG, Nicolas Keenan 20-FG, 46-FG; Nicolas Della Torre 23-PC, 40-PC) 8-7 in shoot out (Full time 5-5 draw). Shootout: Korea (Jung Manjae, Ji Woo Cheon, Lee Jungjun) beat Argentina (Maico Casella, Nicolas Keenan) 3-2. PoM: Jang Jonghyun.
