Odisha athletes continued their fine run for the second day in the 4th Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), winning five medals at Tatya Tope Stadium in Bhopal today. The five medals consisted of two gold, one silver and one bronze.
With addition of five medals today, the total number of medals for Odisha in athletics became seven. Odisha had captured two gold medals on the opening day of the KIYG athletics competitions yesterday.
Versatile athlete Sabita Toppo was the star of the day as she clinched a magnificent double, adding the girls 100m hurdles gold to the long jump yellow metal she had secured yesterday.
A cadet of Bhubaneswar-based Reliance Foundation Odisha Athletics High Performace Centre, Toppo won the 100m hurdles gold with a career-best time of 13.96 seconds. She was also part of the Odisha girls 4x100m relay team, that won the bronze medal with a time of 49.88 seconds.
