  Odisha cricketer Dhiraj Singh announces retirement

Odisha First-Class cricketer Dshiraj Singh announced his retirement from all form of the sport today. The 35-year-old left-arm spinner played 51 First-Class, 19 List-A and five T20 matches in career that spanned for a decade (2008-2018). He also played for Odisha U-14, U-15, U-17, U-19 and U-22 teams.

Cuttack-based Dhiraj bagged 119 First-Class wickets, conceding 4764 runs. His best bowling figures were 7/83 in an innings and 8/129 in a match. Dhiraj bagged five wickets in an innings five time.

In List-A format, Dhiraj captured 17 wickets for 698 runs. His best bowling in a List-A match was five for 49. In his five T20 matches, the spinner gathered a total of eight wickets for 104 runs, including a best effort of three for 18.

Dhiraj made his First-Class debut in a Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan in Sambalpur in November 2008. He played his last match (First Class) for Odisha against Jammu & Kashmir at Jammu in December 2018.

“It has been a great honour to represent my state, Odisha in cricket for 20 years. But I have to accept the bitter truth that all good things come to an end. And with a very emotional heart I had decided to retire from all forms of professional cricket,” Dhiraj wrote in his Facebook post.
