Indian boys qualified for the semifinals by finishing second in Pool-A league with one win and two defeats. They beat Thailand 29-0, but went down to Malaysia 5-14 and host Nepal 10-12. In the semifinals, Indian boys lost to UAE 0-36. Korea boys won the gold medal, defeating UAE 21-17 in the final.
Indian U-18 boys and girls teams featured 13 players each including five each from Odisha and three each from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar. The five Odisha boys were: Ganesh Dhangada Majhi, Ashok Hasdah, Mangal Soren, Guru Mandra and Lachmi Sesa
The five Odisha girls were: Mama Naik, Tarulata Naik, Nirmalya Rout, Arati Murmu, Parbati Hansda. Among the Odisha girls Mama Naik got the opportunity to captain the Indian team.
