Odisha woman swimming international Pratyasa Ray bagged her second medal in the SFI Open National Ranking Swimming Championship, winning bonze in 200m backstroke and a cash award of Rs 6,000 at the Gachibowli Swimming Pool in Hyderabad today. She finished third in the event, clocking 2:33.44.
Bhubaneswar swimmer Pratyasa had won her first medal on the opening day of the championship with a silver in women 100m backstroke. The 20-year-old swimmer now trains at Odisha-JSW Swimming High Performance Centre, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
While Pratyasa remained the only Odisha medallist in the ongoing championship, four more swimmers from the State claimed cash awards by securing positions among top eight finishers in respective events.
Mannata Mishra, one of the most promising talents of the State, grabbed sixth rank in womens 100m breaststroke, clocking 1:22.59 on the second day of the four-day championship yesterday.
On the penultimate day today, Bikash Haripal, Nabin Sharma and Anmol Mohanty emerged top-eight finishers for Odisha. Haripal occupied eighth rank in mens 1500m freestyle, clocking 18:19.23.
Sharma secured seventh position in mens 200m backstroke with a timing of 2:28.05, while Anmol Mohanty finished eighth in mens 200m backstroke, taking a time of 2:30.36.
