Odisha and Utkal University allrounder Kartik Biswal will lead a 15-member East Zone Team in the Vizzy Trophy Inter-Zonal University Cricket Tournament, scheduled to be  held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh from 10 to 16 March 2023. Shibasish Sahoo of KIIT University is another Odisha players who has been selected in the East Zone team.

East Zone will meet South Zone their opening match on March 10. East Zone will play their other two matches against North Zone and West Zone on March 12 and 14 respectively.

Vizzy Trophy is an annual limited overs (List A) tournament, organised by Association of Indian Universities, under the auspices of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Named after former BCCI president and the Maharajah of Vizianagaram, Vizzy Trophy was first held in 1966-67.

The East Zone team for the Vizzy Trophy 2023-24 was announced after the conclusion of the East Zone Inter University Tournament at KIIT University in  Bhubaneswar today. Santosh Kumar Jena of KIIT University has been named as the coach of the East Zone team.
