Odisha para-sprint icon Jayanti Behera clinched a glorious double, winning both the 400m and 100m gold medals in womens T-47 category of the 21st National Para Athletics Championship at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, Maharashtra.
Jayanti followed the 400m title she won yesterday with the 100m yellow metal today. She emerged the fastest wom of the three-day championship in T-47 category, clocking 13.37 seconds in 100m sprint.
Odisha secured two more bronze medals today to increase its total to seven, which featured three gold and four bronze. Pankaj Bhue claimed one bronze medal by finishing third in mens T-13 100m event with a time of 12.56 seconds.
This was the second medal for Bhue, who is also a visually impaired international cricketer. He had bagged the gold in long jump yesterday. The second bronze medal of the day for Odisha was pocketed by Lal Prasad Soren in mens T-12 100m run, clocking 12.56 seconds
Para Sports Association of Odisha has fielded a 19-member State squad in the four-day National Para Athletics Championship.
