India clinched a double by winning gold medal in both men and women categories of the 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship which was held at Tamulpur in Assam from 20 to 23 March 2023. Nepal secured silver medal in both men and women sections.

In the women final, India beat Nepal by 33 points (49-16). Odisha player Archana Majhi, who is student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), was part of the Indian women team. Earlier in the semifinals, Indian women trounced Bangladesh by 49 points and an innings, while Nepal prevailed over Sri Lanka by 59 points and an innings.

Indian men also won the final match comfortably, defeating Nepal by six points and an innings. In the semifinals, Indian men prevailed over Sri Lanka by 45 points, while Nepal got the better of Bangladesh by 12 points.

A total of 16 teams participated in the championship. They were Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and host India.
